The Wattegedara Tank and its surrounding environment were cleaned under the Clean Sri Lanka program held in Wattegedara Division on 31-1-2025. This was done with the cooperation of the Chairman of the Maharagama Regional Coordination Committee, Mr. Devananda Suraweera, the Divisional Secretary, the Assistant Planning Director, and other government officials, political representatives, and residents of the area.

The divisional Coordination Committee was held on 2025-01-03 at the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat under the patronage of the Honorable Sangha and the Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Sunil Watagala, and the Chairman of the Maharagama divisional Coordination Committee, Mr. Devananda Suraweera, Member of Parliament for the Colombo District, with the blessings of the Venerable Sangha. The Maharagama Divisional Secretary, Mrs. Dilrukshi Walpola, staff, and officers representing other government institutions also participated in this.

The inauguration of the new year with the "Clean Sri Lanka" national program and the commencement of staff duties at the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat in 2025 was held on 01/01/2025 at the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat under the patronage of the Maharagama Divisional Secretary. Here, a Pirith chanting ceremony was performed by the respected Sangharatna and an Avurudu meal was also prepared and served by the office officials.
